I am sure that our first impression of any event is the strongest. So my recollections of my arrival at Singapore are still strong and vivid and you’ll find why.
The first thing you feel when you leave the huge Changi airport is that it is very hot. Extremely hot and wet, I should say. Be ready to find oneself in the unbearable, penetrating tropical heat. Singapore is situated almost on the equator so it is awfully hot here.
As for the Singapore climate in short - it is tropical: hot, humid, rainy, with two distinct monsoon seasons. Northeastern monsoon - from December to March, during this period the day temperature is slightly lower. The heaviest rainfalls are often at that time, with daily long showers. Southwestern monsoon - from June to September. The air temperature is much higher and during this time rains are not so often. July is considered to be “a dry month”.
So you should pay special attention to your dress. I think that loose and light summer dress of natural fabrics is preferable for men and women if you are going shopping and sightseeing. Jeans or shorts, shirts and sandals are acceptable everywhere as your everyday clothes.
If you are going to visit some exclusive places during your visit to Singapore, you should take some suitable dress for such occasions: for men – a jacket and a tie, for women - a silk or cotton dress.
